Referral Registered Veterinary Nurse | Portsmouth

Are you an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse looking for a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same?

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent veterinary hospital that provides first-opinion 24/7 emergency care alongside specialist referral services in Ophthalmology, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Anaesthesia. This is a full-time position, averaging 37 hours per week on a six-week rolling rota, including a mixture of day, twilight and night shifts across seven days, with participation in the on-call rota.

The Role

As an RVN, you will:

  • Provide outstanding nursing care to medical, surgical and high-dependency patients.
  • Support a range of emergency and referral cases across multiple disciplines.
  • Assist with inpatient care, theatre, diagnostics and anaesthesia.
  • Monitor and care for critically ill patients, ensuring the highest clinical standards.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to seamless patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with an experienced multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified and RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Has at least 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • Remains calm and confident in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Is able to work independently while contributing positively to a close-knit team.
  • Has excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care.
  • Maintains a proactive approach to continuing professional development.

Previous experience within a referral or emergency setting would be advantageous but is not essential.
